Free Resume Help for Veterans
Have you served in the U.S military, and are you job hunting?
Are you struggling with translating your military skills and experience to the civilian job world? Out of gratitude for your service I would like to offer you a free resume review.
How does it work?

Step 1 – Draft your resume
Don’t worry if it is just a draft and not formatted like a finished resume. The most important part is to get the content right first, then figure out how you want it to look.

Step 2 – Send me your draft
Send your resume draft to me as an attachment using the form at the bottom of this page. Let me know what kind of job you are seeking and anything else you think I should know in order to be most helpful to you.

Step 3 – I review it
I will do a free one-time review and make suggestions for content and format based on what you send me, and then email the edits back to you.

Step 4 – You finalize it
You can then decide to use or ignore my suggestions, but getting another opinion sure can’t hurt!
HELPFUL HINTS
Hint #1. Read it out loud. Do this in the privacy of your home (not at Starbucks, you’ll get strange looks…). I promise that by doing this you will find several places where you can make your content more conversational and eliminate extra words or jargon.
Hint #2. Speaking of jargon, don’t assume that anyone reading your resume understands any of the military terms or acronyms that you use. The reality is that most of us won’t, and that could prevent your experience from standing out.
Hint #3. Read it backwards from the bottom up. Not sure why that works to find errors, but it does.
Hint #4. Have a couple friends proofread it when you are finished. For some reason it is impossible for us to catch all of our own typos.
A GOOD RESUME DOESN’T GET YOU A JOB, IT GETS YOU AN INTERVIEW.
Let’s assemble a resume that lets your skills and experience shine to land the interviews you want.
And…thanks for your service.
